I tell patients of mine who are leaving the area to make certain their new dentist uses loupes and a headlight.

Loupes magnify what I see by two and a half times their actual size. I may get new ones soon to see 3.5 times of actual. I can't believe some dentists don't own a pair.

I also use a fiberoptic light that brightens what I see. When I'm working I do not see shadows. These are the necessary tools to see what I'm doing.
